Alocasia 'Loco' is a small cultivated Alocasia with crinkled leaves and a tight upright habit. Its blades develop puckered surfaces, curled margins and uneven edges; this irregular shape is part of the plant, not a sign of damage.
New leaves rise on short petioles and harden into a twisted, folded shape as they mature.
Alocasia 'Loco' is known in cultivation as a small Alocasia with heavily puckered leaves and compact upright growth. Mature leaves keep their curled, irregular surface.
The folded surface can hold water in small pockets. Water the substrate directly and keep gentle airflow around the plant to reduce brown spotting in the folds.
Alocasia 'Loco' is toxic if ingested. Leaves, petioles and underground parts can irritate the mouth and stomach, so keep the plant out of reach of pets and children that may nibble plants.
Alocasia belongs to Araceae. The genus name combines Greek a-, meaning apart from, with Colocasia, a related aroid name. Alocasia 'Loco' is known for its small size and unusual leaf texture.
