Mature foliage becomes larger and more heart-like, though the lower opening remains small or completely closed on some leaves. The plant can reach about 60 cm high and wide. Because it is a hybrid, leaf roundness, vein brightness and final colour can vary, especially between young plants and mature specimens.
The upper edge remains closed or nearly closed, while fine pale veins become sharper as each blade matures. ‘Gigi’ combines rounded, nearly closed leaves with the dark colouring associated with nigrolaminum. New growth can open bronze or reddish, then hardens into deep green velvet with pale veins and a broad, smooth outline.
