A large-growing,; trilobed Anthurium furcatum Sodiro belongs to section ;Semaeophyllium. Leaves are erect to spreading; petioles are terete (flattened adaxially). Leaf blades deeply trilobed to form the base, sub coriaceous,; medium green and semi glossy above, somewhat paler and matte below, upper surface covered with small linear raphides, base acute; central lobe oblong to linear-oblong.

The genus name Anthurium is derived form Greek ánthos "flower" + ourá "tail" + New Latin -ium -ium . A very; literal translation of this would be 'flowering tail'.
