Fargesia robusta 'Formidable' is a clumping bamboo with upright green canes, narrow evergreen leaves, and the tidy non-running habit that makes it easier to manage than invasive bamboo types. It develops dense vertical structure with softly arching tips, so it works well in large containers or sheltered garden plantings where screening and texture are needed without aggressive spread.
Even moisture is important here: the root ball should not dry completely, but drainage must still stay open enough to avoid sour, stagnant conditions around the roots. Bright shade to filtered light, cool to moderate temperatures, periodic feeding during active growth, and occasional removal of old canes keep it dense and useful over time.
