Ficus lyrata 'Bambino'
  • Ficus lyrata 'Bambino' is a dwarf cultivar of  Ficus lyrata Warb., commonly called fiddle-leaf fig or banjo fig, is native to Africa. The species is a broadleaf evergreen tree that may grow to 30 tall in its native habitat. It is sometimes grown in the tropics as an ornamental shade tree. In colder climates, this is a popular houseplant that typically grows to 3m tall. The 'Bambino' is a more compact, smaller-growing plant with smaller leaves that stay more round and slightly 'folded'.

     

    Genus name c. 1400, from Latin ficus "fig, fig tree" (see fig). With capital letter, as the name of a large genus of trees and shrubs, chosen by Linnaeus (1753).
