Alocasia longiloba watsoniana

High-contrast venation and glossy, mirror-like foliage are to die for on  this form of Alocasia longiloba Miq. (this form was formerly named A. watsoniana Sander) which is a tuberous, herbaceous species. It is a form of the longiloba species, but distinctly different to the 'original' Alocasia longiloba Miq.. Its leaves are more rounded, and it has significantly more silver veining. The large leaves can get to around 60cm long and about the same width. The fronts of the leaves are dark green, with silver-white blade margins, midrib and primary veins. The backs of the leaves are eggplant purple.

Genus name comes from the Greek words a meaning without and Colocasia the name of a closely allied genus, from which it was separated.
