Philodendron 'Red Heart'

Philodendron 'Red Heart' is a rare and unusual Philodendron hybrid that develops very strong red coloration from the plant's center and trails along the middle of its leaves. Juvenile leaves emerge very deep maroon colour and darken to very dark green. Prefers to stay on the drier side compared to most Philodendrons.

From the Modern Latin genus name Philodendron (Schott, 1830), from Greek philodendron, neuter of philodendros "loving trees," from philo- "loving" (see philo-) + dendron "tree" (from PIE *der-drew-, from root *deru- "to be firm, solid, steadfast," also forming words for "wood, tree"). The plant so called because it clings to trees.
