Rhipsalis (Mistletoe Cactus)

Rhipsalis are spineless or near-spineless jungle cacti that drape rather than stand-chains, filaments and straps that hang from trees in nature and from baskets indoors. They are built for bright shade, mild temperatures and lightly moist airy mixes, not for harsh desert sun or deep cold pots of peat.

Rhipsalis is an easy way to bring cactus-adjacent texture into softer light. It feels relaxed and a little unusual, and it is especially strong where sharp spines are not welcome but trailing structure still is. In the right position, it gives you movement and texture without the harder edge of desert cacti.
