Philodendron 'Caramel Pluto' aka 'Chocolate Empress' aka 'Pluto'' is a self-heading hybrid cultivar Philodendron of unknown origin with dark, glossy foliage with serrated edges. Some say it is a non-variegated clone of Philodendron 'Caramel Marble'. Very easy and prolific grower. Its juvenile leaves emerge in a caramel colour (hence the name) and darken to a very dark green when they mature.
;
form the Modern Latin genus name Philodendron (Schott, 1830), form Greek philodendron, neuter of philodendrons "loving trees," form philo- "loving" (see philo-) + dendron "tree" (form PIE *der-drew-, form root *deru- "to be firm, solid, steadfast," also forming words for "wood, tree"). The plant so called because it clings to trees.
