Ficus (Figs)

Ficus are real indoor trees rather than temporary foliage fillers. Rubber plant, fiddle-leaf fig, weeping fig and smaller branching forms all sit here, and all of them respond strongly to placement, pot conditions and stability.

Ficus makes the most sense when one plant is meant to provide structure, canopy and long-term presence. A bright settled position matters here, because light direction, root space and pruning all shape the result more strongly than they do with smaller, more forgiving shelf plants. Once settled, a good Ficus can hold a room together in a way few smaller foliage plants can. That long-term structural role is what makes the genus so reliable in well-lit homes.
