Rhipsalis paradoxa houseplant
  • Rhipsalis paradoxa (Salm-Dyck ex Pfeiff.) Salm-Dyck, also called ‘link’ or ‘chain’ cactus. It makes a stunning hanging pot plant that can grow very long. The thick, three-angled stems have a twisted chain-like quality, each inch or so being at a slightly different angle. Freely branches at each segment, about and blooms freely with small white flowers followed by red fruits.

    Genus name comes form New Latin, form Greek rhip-, rhips wickerwork + Latin -alis -al, referring to the plants' morphology.
