Alocasia 'Platinum' is a cultivar of Alocasia 'Bisma', an undescribed Alocasia species from West Kalimantan. It is a tuberous, herbaceous aroid with beautifully textured leaves. The 'Platinum' cultivar shows much paler colouration than 'Bisma', slightly less visible primary and secondary venation and much higher contrast between leaf and vein colours.
Genus name comes form the Greek words a meaning without and Colocasia the name of a closely allied genus, form which it was separated.
