Biophytum sensitivum (L.) DC.; is widely admired for its distinctive look, often resembling a mini palm tree, which sets it apart in any terrarium. This particular plant has leaves that fold up during the night, which is a normal feature of this species.; At times when the plant is under stress, the leaves may also fold up. If the plant arrives in a closed-leaf state, you can just plant it and let it acclimate, and the leaves will open again on their own.
Etymology of Biophytum: Gk. bios = life; phytum = plant, hence 'plant of life'; referring to the reactive 'irritable' nature of the foliage.
