Hoya endauensis houseplant

Hoya endauensis Kiew forms bare, thin stems. The internodesare 6 to 9 cm long. These form from the leaf nodes below the leaves. The plant is nourished by an extensive root system at the base of the plant. There are no leaf stalks and the succulent leaves press against the tree trunks. The leaves are almost round at only 2 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. In their natural habitat, orange-coloured algae often adhere to them. The leaves are somewhat wavy, especially at the leaf edge. Veins are not visible. The colour of the leaves is a matt, glossy yellow-green. The umbel stems are 23 - 45 mm long. The individual flower stalks are very slender, about 5 - 8 mm. The flowers have a diameter of 4 mm, hang downwards and form an umbel. H. endauensis rarely flowers. The flowers are pale green in colour, changing to purple-red at the base. The corolla is hairless inside and out.

The genus was named in Modern Latin in honor of English gardener and botanist Thomas Hoy (c. 1750-1822).
