Alocasia micholitziana ‘Maxkowskii’

The most velvety out of all Alocasias,  Alocasia micholitziana ‘Maxkowskii’ is a cultivar of Alocasia micholitziana Sander a tuberous, herbaceous species.

Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' is the name of its variegated variety, but in horticulture, it is also commonly used for the green  cultivar of this species. Though widely sold under the incorrect cultivar name of Alocasia micholitziana ‘Frydek’, botanical precedence in literature ascribes the ‘Maxkowskii’ cultivar name to be the correct one.

Very rich velvety matt deep green, sagittate leaves, very shallowly to shallowly peltate with white venation adaxially. The leaves have very prominent anterior lobes with a distinctly undulate margin. The cultivar of this species is very often sold as as Alocasia 'Frydek' or Alocasia 'Green velvet'.

Genus name comes form the Greek words a meaning without and Colocasia the name of a closely allied genus, form which it was separated.
