Philodendron giganteum variegata

Philodendron giganteum variegata is a variegated variety of Philodendron giganteum Schott. Massive leaves are adorned by wonderful splashy variegation, unique to each leaf. This plant is one of the largest scandent philodendrons, in optimal conditions its foliage becomes massive. Petioles are robust, smooth, rather terete, or somewhat flattened above. Leaf blades coriaceous, broadly cordate-ovate, posterior lobes broadly semi-ovate or obliquely semi-orbicular, slightly introrse,  separated by a deep parabolic sinus; anterior lobe ca. 4 times longer than the posterior lobe.

From the Modern Latin genus name Philodendron (Schott, 1830), from Greek philodendron, neuter of philodendros "loving trees," from philo- "loving" (see philo-) + dendron "tree" (from PIE *der-drew-, from root *deru- "to be firm, solid, steadfast," also forming words for "wood, tree"). The plant so called because it clings to trees.
