Das groß wachsende, dreilappige Anthurium furcatum Sodiro gehört zur Sektion Semaeophyllium. Die Blätter sind aufrecht bis breit; die Blattstiele sind teretisch (adaxial abgeflacht). Die Blattspreiten sind an der Basis tief dreilappig, ledrig, mittelgrün und halbglänzend auf der Oberseite, etwas blasser und matt auf der Unterseite, auf der Oberseite mit kleinen, linealischen Raphiden bedeckt und an der Basis spitz; der Mittellappen ist länglich bis linear-länglich.
Der Gattungsname Anthurium ist abgeleitet von griechisch ánthos "Blume" + ourá "Schwanz" + neulateinisch -ium -ium . Eine sehr wörtliche Übersetzung wäre also "blühender Schwanz".
